Germany towards the end of the Second World War. A little town in Franconia, close to Nuremberg. Gudrun (Kerstin Gmelch), who is about twelve years old, experiences the end of her happy-go-lucky childhood in stormy times. Her father is fighting on the front in faraway Russia. Her mother has packed Gudrun off to her grandmother’s in the country, as Gudrun is not supposed to become an awkward witness of her mother’s affair. In a mixture of childish affection and budding pangs of love, Gudrun tries to get closer to the slightly older Fritz (Roman Mitterer). The two of them exchange their longings and secrets. Yet Fritz of all people will betray Gudrun’s biggest secret…
