13-year-old Pik (Sidonie von Krosigk) sets off to save her grandma’s animal sanctuary from financial ruin. Unfortunately her singing performances at the airport don’t bring in any money, only trouble with the police. To make matters worse, she gets chased by a corrupt policeman whom she accidentally saw involved in shady dealings. Pik succeeds in getting out of the airport by pretending to be the French exchange student of the well-off Königstein family and, at first, it looks as if she might be able to go into hiding at their place. But the policeman tracks her down and Pik has to run away again. However, this time, she also has Amadeus, the 13-year-old son of the Königsteins, hot on her heels – someone she had initially found really awful. But it is only with his help that Pik can feign a kidnapping and at last get hold of the long-desired money for her grandma’s animal sanctury. And, gradually, she increasingly comes to appreciate the talented budding pianist Amadeus…
